Implementasi Minat Membaca melalui Program Pojok Baca di SDN 13 Koto Baru Kabupaten Dharmasraya

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the reading corner (pojok baca) program at SDN 13 Koto Baru, Dharmasraya Regency, identify its supporting and inhibiting factors, and analyze its impact on students' reading interest. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with the principal, three classroom teachers, and several students selected through purposive sampling as informants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and their validity was established through source and technique triangulation. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Salda model. The results show that the reading corner program has been implemented in every classroom as part of the School Literacy Movement, supported by a 15-minute reading habit before lessons. The program has a positive impact on students' reading interest, reflected in increased reading frequency, vocabulary, and discussion habits, as well as growing peer book-sharing. Its success is supported by the principal's commitment, teacher creativity, and parental involvement, but is hindered by limited book collections, infrequent updates, competition with gadget use, and the absence of routine program evaluation. Sustained collaboration among the school, parents, and other stakeholders is needed to strengthen the program going forward.
