The Impact of Fires, Firefighting Performance, and Response Efforts on Local Economic Resilience

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the impact of fires on MSME business conditions, the effect of firefighter performance in handling fires, and the influence of firefighter efforts in supporting MSME recovery on local economic resilience in Medan City. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population was MSME actors in Medan City, with a sample of 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, partial tests (t-tests), simultaneous tests (F-tests), and the coefficient of determination with the help of SPSS software. Research results show that, partially, the impact of fires on the conditions of MSMEs has a positive and significant effect on local economic resilience. The performance of firefighters in handling fires also significantly affects local economic resilience. In addition, the efforts of firefighters in supporting the recovery of MSMEs have a positive and significant impact on local economic resilience. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affect the local economic resilience of MSMEs in Medan City.
